Yuntao Du

PhD Student

Yuntao graduated with an M.Sc in Advanced Material Science from University College London in 2025. During his master’s degree, he conducted research on the performance optimization of LATP solid-state electrolytes, gaining valuable experience in material synthesis and electrochemical characterization. This work deepened his understanding of structure-property relationships in functional materials and sparked his interest in applying advanced materials to real-world environmental challenges.

Yuntao is in his first year of the SWJTU-Leeds Dual PhD programme, supervised by Dr Adriana Matamoros Veloza, Professor Qi Li, and Professor Thomas Chamberlain. His research project, titled ‘AI enabled, performance directed development of high-performance materials for radionuclide decontamination from nuclear power plant lubricating oils’, focuses on developing novel materials and AI-driven approaches for effective decontamination processes in nuclear applications.
