Nicole Kim
MSc Student
Nicole Kim studied Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin in the USA, where she received her bachelor’s degree. During undergrad, she worked for Dr. Simon Humphrey as an undergraduate research assistant. In this lab, she researched Metal Organic Frameworks- specifically in the synthesis of MOFs utilizing a triple bonded organophosphine ligand. While in undergrad, Nicole also participated in research abroad at the University of Nottingham, where she continued to research MOFs under the care of Prof. Neil Champness. At Nottingham, she researched the synthesis of 2D MOF sheets incorporating naphthalene diimide ligands. After graduation, Nicole decided to broaden her education and research skills by pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Leeds.
Currently, she is a masters student in Dr. Thomas Chamberlain’s lab, focusing on researching catalyst systems for wastewater treatment- specifically systems that aid in the degradation of textile dye pollutants.
