PhD Student
Han Yan did her bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering (BEng) at Jilin University in China in 2019. Following on from this, Han spent 2 years working at FAW in China. Han then completed an M.Sc. with Distinction in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Birmingham in 2022. Throughout Han’s M.Sc. project, she specialised in fracture and fractography of nickel steels under Professor Paul Bowen and Dr Milorad Novovic, investigating the use of 7% nickel steels at cryogenic environment. Han starts her Ph.D. in 2023 under the supervision of Dr Tom Chamberlain, Dr Nicholas Warren, Dr Richard Bourne. Her project focuses on the synthesis of quantum dot in continuous flow via self-optimising manufacturing platforms.
