Chris Hofmair

PhD Student

Chris completed his MPhys in Physics at the University of York in 2024, where he conducted his master’s research in single-molecule biophysics, investigating cell membrane dynamics with implications into Alzheimer’s. During his undergraduate studies, he did placements in medical robotics and aerospace engineering.

After graduating, Chris spent two years in the industrial power systems sector. Starting off on system-level simulations before moving into a technical sales role focused on low-carbon technologies.

Chris is currently part of the Engineering Biology for Biomedicine CDT scheme, in partnership with King’s College London, looking to apply digital chemistry to biomedical challenges. Outside of work, he can usually be found exploring the national parks in and around Yorkshire.
