Joanna is an MChem student who has recently returned from an industrial placement at The Lubrizol Corporation, a speciality chemical company. She is currently researching the use of spherical carbon beads as a support for heterogeneous catalysis. This work involves comparing methods of depositing precious metals onto carbon supports and the effect on catalytic activity, with the most promising candidates being carried forward to continuous flow reactions.
